Prominent ear is a highly remarkable esthetical complaint. Otoplasty surgery is not very preferable because ears can be partly camouflaged by hair, it doesn’t have any functional readjustment and concerned parents. During newborn period it is not considered important. However after children reach age 4 and make friends, they start noticing the difference and perceive it as a problem. This concern increases in time. At the period after they start school, appearance becomes an important issue for them. Children with prominent ear are mocked by their friends and it causes traumas which cant be fixed in the future. That’s why it is important to plan the operation before they start to school.

Total anesthesia is preferred but it can be done under sedation if adult patient requests. It takes 45 to 60 minutes for one ear.

It is usually no need to spend the night at the hospital. Cuts are hidden behind the ear.

We do ear bandage 5 days after the otoplasty surgery and recommend using hairband later on for a week day and night or 2 weeks only nights.

You can freely take shower during this period.

The absolute recovery takes approximately 6 months however you can notice the difference at your ears immediately.
